Solar Panels for Dummies?

I think my house is a perfect match for solar panels. However, when I used a calculator to see how much it costs, I was so surprised. It would cost like $62,000, and it will take like 5 years to pay it. I don't have any money to help towards this. Is there any where to get help in order to get the solar panels? Please direct me to a good source of information. My electric bill is ridiculous and I know we could benefit from solar panels, but the cost scare me.

I don't know of any alternative energy subsidy at the moment. They are rather expensive though. I thought I may buy one at a time and they will be paid off by the time they all get installed.

That sounds like a good idea, SnickerDoodle! I hadn't thought about that approach. We are considering a wind turbine at the moment but I'm not sure we would have enough wind to make it worth the money. At the moment we have an outdoor wood burner that warms the house, heats our water and also heats the garage but we can switch off if we aren't in the garage. I love it and in spite of having to load it with wood every twenty four hours. We have tons of saw mills around who will give us scrap wood from processing the logs brought in so we are out very little on fuel.
