Default Organic Food and Its Benefits

Have you wondered how many ****tail of pesticides you take every day? The food you have every day is no good than eating a variety of pesticides. It is said that an apple a day keeps the doctor away but now having an apple is equal to having around 30 pesticides.

If you are worried about the health of your family then it is very essential to switch on to organic lifestyle. Fill your kitchen store with the organic food which is devoid of harmful chemicals. Organic food contains 50% more vitamins, minerals and nutrients and scores better with all health benefits.

Research published in 2001 showed that conventionally grown fruit and vegetables in the USA have about half the vitamin content of their counterparts in 1963. This study was based on comparing published US Department of Agriculture figures.

A scientific study published in the Journal of Applied Nutrition in 1993 clearly showed that organic food is more nutritious than conventional food. Organically and conventionally grown apples, potatoes, pears, wheat, and sweet corn were purchased in the western suburbs of Chicago, over two years, and analysed for mineral content. The organically grown food averaged 63% higher in calcium, 73% higher in iron, 118% higher in magnesium, 178% higher in molybdenum, 91% higher in phosphorus, 125% higher in potassium and 60% higher in zinc. The organic food averaged 29% lower in mercury than the conventionally raised food.

A recently publish review of scientific research by Dr Charles Benbrook, the Chief Scientist at The Organic Center, reveals that on average organic foods contain about one-third higher in antioxidants than comparable conventional produce.

These phyto-nutrients have been shown to have major roles in preventing and reversing diseases such as heart disease and arterial diseases. They are important for preventing and reducing inflammatory and auto-immune diseases such as asthma and arthritis. Most significantly they are shown to have anti cancer and other protective properties for our health and well being.

A study by the Danish Institute of Agricultural Research and the University of Newcastle's showed that cows raised on an organic diet produce milk with 50% more Vitamin E and 75% more beta carotene than conventionally farmed cows. The organic milk has two to three times more zeaxanthine and lutein, which are powerful antioxidants. Higher levels of omega 3 essential fatty acids, that provide protection from heart and other diseases, are also found in organic milk.

A scientific article published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry stated that organically grown corn, strawberries and marionberries have significantly higher levels of cancer fighting antioxidants than conventionally grown foods. I can't agree more with you. I think most people would go for organic food if they could afford the cost. I wish they sold organic food at much cheaper price than they do now.

One theory related to the over-weight crisis these days is that most people have overworked livers that can't keep up with all the toxins contained in our food supply. I tend to believe it.

I wish we could afford to eat more organic foods. It's so expensive and we are on such a tight budget as it is that we are stuck with conventional foods.

I always try to buy some organic fruits and vegetables (depending on the cost), but some fruits I really don't think it matters to buy organic like oranges and bananas because they have a thick outer skin that we don't eat.

If I can't buy organic (because of the cost) I use my vegetable and fruit wash that I bought from Trader Joe's and it is suppose to clean off the pesticides if you follow the directions on the bottle.

Whenever possible, I do try to buy organic because I think it tastes so much better!

Default Affording Organic Foods

After reading the article about how much more nutritious organic foods are for us, I'm not surprised that people who don't eat organic foods have so many health problems. Honestly, I'm one who has always said that I can't afford the healthier organically-grown foods, but after reading that article, I'm going to find a way to afford it.

It is the right thing to switch to organic products now, but since organic products are too expensive, some of them are cannot afford to buy those stuff. I suggest that we should be aware on what we eat and let us be more on vegetarian side than eating those thick meat of beef, pork. Let's be more sensitive in our health.
