Default Has Anyone Tried A Raw Foods Diet?

I was just wondering about the raw food diet and if it really made a difference in your health/way you feel? I need to up the vitamin intake in my diet but I'm not sure this would be the way to do it. Anyone?

I haven't ever tried it, but I have a friend who swears by it. But then, he never gets to come to dinner because we cook. :P Honestly, we do make provisions for him if we have a dinner party or a cook out.

Well, it is good but some foods are just better cooked, like for example carrots. Vitamins from boiled carrots are more easily utilized than those in raw carrots. This is certainly a keypoint to have in mind.

I have never tried it, but I do know that certain veggies are better for you if cooked and release more vitamins cooked than uncooked. There was an episode of Dr. Oz where he went over a few veggies that are better for you if they are cooked because their nutrients are released better that way. I can't remember which ones were better cooked, but I'm sure if you did some research you could figure it out.

That's certainly interesting. I don't think humans have eaten a totally raw diet since we discovered fire, quite some time ago. LOL I don't think I would be able to live on a diet like a raw food diet. I'm too partial to my cooked foods. But then, I don't want them cooked to death.

I am more on veggie salad such as Asian Salad and Ceasar Salad. It is healthier and I used to eat this because it is easy to prepare. I am more into vegetables than meat, that is why I should I am healthy because I know my food.

Smile I've been on a raw foods diet for one month

... and it is working! I've tried to concentrate on green, leafy, vegetables - as they are high in Vit A, K and B, but I have, also, been eating 2 avocado's per day, as suggested by a friend. I'm over 50 and nothing seems to work as well as a raw foods diet. In 3 weeks, I've lost well over 12 lbs - not excercising.
