Default Sources of Greenhouse Gases

[B]Carbon Dioxide:[/B] Occurs naturally or as a by-product of burning biomass & fossil fuels. Also produced by industrial processes.


[B]Methane:[/B] Sources include, naturally, landfills, paddy fields, coalmines, natural gas system & livestock.


[B]Nitrous Oxide:[/B] Generated by soil cultivation, burning fossil fuels & manufacture of fertilizers.


[B]PFC’s:[/B] A by-product of aluminum smelting & human-made chemicals.


[B]HFC’s:[/B] Used largely in refrigeration & insulating foam.


[B]Sulphur Hexafluoride:[/B] Used in heavy industry to assist in manufacturing cable cooling systems & to insulate high voltage equipment.


[B]Water Vapour:[/B] Occurs naturally


[B]Ozone:[/B] Occurs naturally or created from motor vehicles & power plants.
