Default Questions– To be Asked Before Booking a Green Hotel

Those looking for environmentally friendly hotels should keep one thing in mind that each site has its own guidelines for rating properties. So you must do some homework before finalizing a green hotel. There are few questions that I can suggest you to ask before booking your hotel. Check out the questions bellow and do ask.

• What kind of recycling programs does the hotel have (aluminum, plastic, paper, gray water, composting)?
• Is the hotel locally owned and operated? If not, is it at least staffed by local employees?
• Do guests have the option to reuse towels and sheets instead of having them changed every day?
• How does the hotel contribute to the local community?
• What programs does the hotel have to reduce consumption? Examples include energy-efficient lighting, low-flow toilets and showers, and alternative energy sources like solar or wind power.

Hi Disha,
Thanks for those questions you have suggested before booking a green hotel. After considering your questions, I thought I might suggest some additions to your list:

Is your swimming pool sustainable?
What techniques do you use to maintain your grounds?
Do you serve local food?
I'm traveling next week and although the company selects the hotel, I'm going to ask an employee the questions listed here. It will be interesting to know if it is eco-friendly and in what ways, like recycling and using energy-efficient
products, they are green.
