We do the same as Bob above, although I do use reusable bags for as much as possible now. Sometimes, our groceries overflow the bags we have so we still end up with a few plastic bags on occasion.

This is really a problem that is hard to resolve. We cannot make everyone become responsible enough to reuse bags and more plastic bags fill up the land fills. At least some of us reuse bags and it does help the environment but it is not enough.

My wife uses them to make rugs for the porches. She will cut them into a type of "yarn", or one continuous string and string a bunch together. Then she crochets them into an oval rug for us to use on the porches. When they wear out, we just toss them and she makes new ones. They are pretty handy. But we do take back some of them to recycle.

Default Europe's got the right idea!

Did you know?
In Europe you have to pay five cents for each plastic bag you need and you will not get them unless you ask.

[QUOTE=brilliant1988;634]I have one question in mind. Do countries who banned the plastic bags ever think about the plastic containers of different soda and solvents that are used by large companies? They are still plastic. No matter what they are still in the category of NON BIODEGRADABLE. Therefore, plastic isn't banned that much.

Every public trash can in Europe consists of 3 - 4 cans put together.

1. Paper
2. refuse (non-recyclables)
3. Plastic
4. Glass

In countries like Germany, if you are caught using the wrong bin you will be fined 10-50 euros.

I use plastic bags, mostly zip bags for smaller items and they are of very good quality. They last for years and are super reusable. That's my contribution anyway.
