I just saw an advertisement for a wonderful messenger bag made out of pop can tabs. It was very sturdy looking and they were made in Guatemala by some ladies who had started their own "factory" in one of their houses. I love the use of unconventional items to make useful things. I also saw a prom dress made out of candy wrappers. They were so neat.

Capri Sun is giving schools 2 cents per each one of the drinking pouches. They plan to recycle them and make pencil bags, messenger bags and other items.
I have also seen clothing made with plastic bags and other items. My mom uses bottle caps for some of her crochet projects. She makes beautiful grape bunches that go as kitchen decorations. |

That is so COOL! I wish I could think of doing things like that! I love the idea of using pop tabs but all of my friends who drink soda recycle the aluminum cans. I DO use plastic jugs for other things, but they won't hold water forever. I went to get some of my water I had stored for a while one day, and the jugs were down 1/2 or 3/4 of the jug. They had been slowly leaking.
