Default Grain Silo

I used to live not too far from some old abandoned grain silos, now I'm obsessed with the idea of turning one into a "green home". I think it would be great. I though it was an original idea (and maybe it was when I had it about 4 years ago) but I looked online and several people have done this. What do you all think about the Idea?

Living in a converted grain silo isn't something I would want to do, but I understand how converting one into a green home could be done. Using existing structures is a sound environmental decision, but would you use the silo only or build the home onto it?

It sounds like a very intriguing idea. I never would have thought of it. How would you make it into a house. I guess it will have lots of floors. Could you give us an idea on how you could turn it into a house?

Here is a look at the idea I had. I fond this on the internet, I think it is the one that was featured on Yahoo news a couple of weeks ago.

It really is a great design in my opinion.

That is really nice. I have heard of people converting old objects into houses and really commend their commitment. Here is a plane that someone turned into a rental for a hotel. It is really quite spectacular.

The house with the plane attached just doesn't seem earthquake safe to me (it looks awesome though), but the first picture looks amazing. I was skeptical at first when I heard Chris say he wanted to make a house out of a grain silo, but that house looks amazing and glamorous! I love it!!! I think it is a great way to recycle and keep a clean green environment!
