Default The Best Green "Car"

Remember folks, the very best green car is not a car at all. It's public transportation. Whether it be bus or train, public transit, if available, is always greener than using your own car. Especially buses that run on compressed natural gas. Think about it.

I agree to some degree but still buses emit gases that pollutes the air. I guess the we can choose the lesser evil if we ride public transport. The thing is not everyone has an access to buses or trains and the only way to travel is by their own cars.

You also need to take into consideration the fact that buses follow strict routes, they are not always on time and tend to be very overcrowded, but the least you can do is carpool or better yet ride a bike.

Yeah, to some extent, riding a bike is a good alternative to using public transportation or your own car. I remember ever read an article about a concept bicycle design which combines different natural sources of energy to power the bicycle.

I think either way, one or the other has to make a sacrifice. If we choose to be convenient and comfortable then we use our car and the environment will take the sacrifice. If we care about our environment and opt to travel in a greener way then we have to make the sacrifice as buses don't stop right in front of the door of the workplace.
I take the bus to work everyday and I don't mind it really although I lose at least an hour daily waiting for the bus. Now, it's wintertime and the bus company I use have got a reputation of not turning up when the weather is bad and most of the time they are late. This sometimes gets to my nerve and unfortunately, I can't drive. But I will learn to, one day soon, because many times the buses are unreliable.
On the other hand, riding a bike is not plausible as I can't ride a bike nor can I learn either and my workplace is about 10 miles. I think carpool would be the best option for me, though. However, it's also not easy to find one who is willing to pick me up and send me home day in and day out.

I absolutely agree. That's why I said IF it's available, it's a good option. And yes, buses pollute the air but so do cars. But 40 passengers on one bus doesn't pollute near as bad as one person in a car.

Good logic Josh and you are correct. And if buses can run on a renewable energy then that would really reduce a lot of pollution in the atmosphere. I've seen a picture of buses running on solar power but I guess that bus is expensive.

The best possible transportation are your feet, at least to me, and sometimes my bike when long rides are needed. But a lot of people won't agree. My neighbor goes to the gym with his car even though the gym is 200 yards away from his building. How ridiculous is that?!

I use public transportation all the time first because it's a lot cheaper than driving your own car and second it's much easier to not worry about traffic and let someone do it for you.

I would love to drive an electric car because they usually are not as fast as regular cars are and since I drive slowly anyway these are ideal for me. Plus it's a plus for the environment.
