I realize that not everyone is a candidate for a hybrid or all-electric vehicle. That being said, if we would start buying smaller vehicles and not huge gas guzzlers, not only would we save money at the pump, but we would reduce our need for fossil fuels.

You're right, Josh. I used to lived in a crowded city in Asia and everytime I got stuck in a traffic jam I would take into account the numberless saloon cars with only driver inside. Then I would think of the spaces that could have been saved if people used smaller cars which means there wouldn't be as much traffic jams. With regards to fossil fuel dependence, I wish that people could invent a device that could make use of water to run cars.
