Default Will you be getting an electric car?

Would you consider buying an electric car in the the next couple of years? Whit the Chevy Volt and Nissan Leaft being the headline grabbers these days and bringing electric cars to the masses I started thinking myself that the next car I purchase will be an electric one, but I'll wait and see how the market matures, how about you?

No, I don't think I'm a good candidate for an all-electric car. I like to travel. I frequently take weekend trips of 300 miles or more. I wouldn't want to be stuck on the side of the highway with dead batteries. I'll just keep driving fuel-efficient cars for now.

Such cars are excellent for city driving since you're always 10 miles away from charging your batteries. Since I also travel a lot I don't think I will be buying an electric car in the near future.

It sounds like an interesting and eco-friendly car. How much do you think it will cost? I would love to have one if I could afford it.

Well the Leaf to the best of my knowledge costs around 30 grand, that's not including government tax cuts and rebates, but there is a how list of new eco friendly cars coming out in 2011 and the chepates on the list the Honda CR-Z which will cost between 19 and 23 thousand dollars.

See, that's my problem with electric cars. With starting prices in the $25's and most higher than that, I honestly can't see why anyone would buy one. I mean, I like being green, but not at that expense.
