Creating a fat ball for the birds

My Aunt used to make fat balls for the birds using up waste food and leftover fats. The thing is, when I try to do it, my fat balls fall to pieces. Does anyone here know how to make them, so that they stay in one piece?

I don't know how to make one per say, but you could try to add some flower to it that should make it stick, I'm not a big on cooking so I'm not sure, but to the best of my knowledge that's what they use in pastries to make them stick.

you can always use a binding ingredient like moisture and some breadcrumbs or even an egg.. but no need to go out of your way to make a ball of waste.. I don't think the birds are too picky

Before you place it outside for the birds, make sure to place the fat ball inside an old mesh onion bag. That way, if it does fall apart, most of the pieces will remain in the bag for the birds to eat.
