Default Discarding Christmas trees in the New Year

We have the same problem every year, and that is, Where do we take the Christmas tree come New Year.

In the past we have ended up burning it, but somehow this does not seem the right thing to do.

Can anyone help?

Yeah, I also have this problem. This is why I only get a small Christmas trees nowadays because I'm spending a lot for a big tree in the passed years which I just burned after the yuletides.

We usually take it to the local Army Corps of Engineers which uses them for fish habitats in our local lake system. They take as many as they can get and sink them in spots for the fish to make nests and hiding places from the larger fish. I thought it was an excellent way to make use of the used trees.

Ask around at local landfills or recycling places. Ours will take the Christmas trees (as long as cleaned of any tinsel) and they run them through a chipper and make mulch from them.
