Default degradable bags

I don't understand why people can't or won't make bags that will bio-degrade naturally in a SHORT amount of time so that there isn't as much harm done to the environment. We use bags for just about everything (packaging, taking in groceries, picking up dog poop, taking out the garbage, etc), so why can't anyone design something that will be green and would be used by every company around the world?

Until supermarkets and stores adopt policy of not offering free bags for packaging with their products. I think there is the key for this problem. Then people will get a habit of carrying their own bags.

If I go without my reusable bags to the grocery, I always ask for paper bags. There are so many things you can use them for and they ARE biodegradable. We use them for everything after we get them.

It is too bad that more stores don't implement the use of more earth friendly bas, but it all boils down to what going to save them a buck. I agree with Greenerly though, stores need to adopt policies for not offering free bags like they do in Europe.

There are a few places that don't have bags available unless you pay for them. It is cheaper, if you go into that market, to take your own bags or boxes to get groceries.

I think I'd have to agree with Greenerly on this one. Until super markets implement the no free bags policy like they do in Eurpoe , all we can do is ask for paper.

There are a few supermarkets in our area that try to encourage consumers to go green by making reusable bags available and giving some points each time the shopper uses it. I always bring my reusable bag when food shopping, but it's so frustrating to see really very few shoppers doing the same thing. It seems like they don't care about being eco-friendly and all.

The actually do my friend. I have recently converted a few medium size companies into going green you can actually get most green office products, including cleaning supplies, trash bags, shopping bags, and more at www.EnviroCitizen.org.
