Default How Did You Begin?

How did you begin living a green life? What inspired you to be more conscious of the environment and natural living?

My journey really began after I had a child. It became more important to leave her a better world.

I remember watching several documentaries about the environment, global warming, and ecology. The documentaries exposed realities about what happens and what will happen if tons of plastics and other non-biodegradable materials are continuously dumped at the landfill. They chronicled possible alterations in the ecosystem when man maintains an "I-don't-care attitude toward environmental issues...I think these films were like an eye-opener for me and eventually inspired me to live a green life and to promote environment protection.

It was very gradual for me; it just slowly dawned on me that while recycling was good, it wasn't enough if I wanted our world to be more beautiful. I started doing research online and found ways to be more green.

It evolved over time. I saw very polluted areas as a child, then in high school had some enlightened teachers. Growing up I was always camping and fishing. In college I saw rampant birth defects in an agricultural area with heavy pesticide usage. Then I transferred to a college in the west and was exposed to wilderness. From there, there was no turning back. I was green for good.

I was always a huge nature lover; camper, hiker, mountaineer... And one day I realized that if I want to preserve that fire in me I have to stop some of the things that are going on in the World. The rest is history...
