Default Recycling Batteries

When most people have dead household batteries, they just throw them in the trash. This isn't the right thing to do. Spent batteries should be recycled. Look on a package of new batteries to see where to recycle them. Many companies will even send you a postage paid mailer to send your old batteries.

Our recycling section of the local landfill has a depository for batteries. We save ours in an empty coffee canister and then just dump them in the depository whenever we go to take our recyclables over.

That is pretty smart thing to do since batteries leak dangerous chemical that really can pollute the soil. Is there any service I can turn to and ask if they could install such depository in our town?

I'm ashamed to admit I never even thought of this. Just goes to show how much more information needs to go out to the general public. It would help quite a bit if we were all informed of issues such as these.
