I just wanted to mention that if you don't have easy access to places to recycle old computer equipment, donate it instead to a school in your area. Any tech school and even high schools and colleges will take the equipment to give their students something to practice on.

I agree with you. There are so many schools that don't have computers that they are thankful for what they can get. Even the vocational schools love the beat up ones because they can use the parts to make new computers. It should become the natural way of recycling computers.

I've been leaving my old computers at the computer shop that I go to. There is a man who picks them up, but I don't know what he does with them. Giving them to a school for students to learn on is a great way to help students and be good to the environment. I'm going to start doing that.

That never even occurred to me. Thanks for the tip. I would think you would want to remove the hard drive from them first, Is that correct? I sure don't want some college student retrieving my information and then stealing my identity.

You need to either remove your hard drive or reset your computer to its very first original state. Another suggestion besides school is a used supply store that sells everything from clothes to electronics to appliances. That way you are still contributing to society and help others out.
