Default Do you think this is do-able?

I recently read "Scholars suggest the most effective way to decrease a carbon footprint is to either decrease the amount of energy needed for production or to decrease the dependence on carbon emitting fuels." Do you think this is do-able?

I don't think it will be doable while we are being controlled by interest groups whose sole interest is to make money not caring at all about carbon footprint. They are the ones convincing people that there is no such thing as ozone layer problems, etc.

We are so dependent on all types of energy that we wouldn't know what to do without them. Most people might watch a movie from centuries gone by and they probably think they are fiction. There is definitely nothing natural any more.

I don't think it would work. The special interest groups would laugh and just have more legislation passed to allow their chosen energy source (oil) to have more tax credits and breaks. It's a shame really but that's the way this country rolls.

Is it do able? Yes. But the real question is, will they do it? No. I agree with Gottagetahybrid. There is possibility to make our society run without oil, but it will be costly at first and take time to get the ball rolling thus allowing the oil companies to over through any kind of solution and force us to still use oil (with the government's help). It is a shame.
