Default Used Cooking Oil

I don't know where I've seen this but a man converted used cooking oil into bio fuel which ran his Diesel-engine pick-up. If this is real then why not the government try to replicate what that man has done so we can get away from fossil fuels?

I read a news article about the same topic. There's a man outside Norwich city who was featured in the local paper. He would go around his town to collect used oils from the "fish and chips" shop. He has a machine to convert the used cooking oils and sells them in his own petrol station.

I don't know why government don't make efforts to lessen our dependence on fossil fuel. I think one reason is about the tax they collect from crude oil.

I have seen a car that runs on coffe, unfortunate it's not a viable alternative since it's much more costly to run it that way. As with running your car on cooking oil, unless you want to end up needing to replace your engine I'd stay away from it.

It maybe not viable enough to mass produce it. The used cooking oil availability is limited, and not many people will put their cars at risk of engine failure by using this kind of fuel.

I have heard that there are cars that their engine does work with used cooking oil. I don't remember if it was Gwyneth Paltrow the one that says she uses one. I think I heard her say it on the Ellen show. However, I think her car is set to use this oil, it wasn't that she used it in a regular engine.

I remember reading an article before about an engineer and a partner who turned cooking oil into biodiesel. The story said that they went to one restaurant or fast food chain to another to collect used vegetable oil. And I think that their green venture became the starting point of their biodiesel factory.
