And now comes “energy security”! Ancient societies lived and lasted for centuries mainly on firewood, vegetable oil, paraffin and a little fossil fuel in the form of coal or bitumen. Wars were made on opposing claims to the sources of those materials and many other reasons. Modern nations have come a long way from those crude energy methods but have not learned to control their greed for energy in spite of the negative effects on the environment and the stability of the world. We must learn to share resources and technologies with the aim of attaining energy security on a global scale. Perhaps, an International Energy Commission should be established, if there isn't one yet.
