As we all pause to reflect on the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, it is important to reflect on what this day symbolizes. Earth day is a day where we pay global respect to the planet we live on. It is a day to contemplate the environment and our individual and collective impact on it. A day to reflect on the growth of knowledge we now have on the issues of climate change and global warming as well as energy efficiency, sustainability and harmful things like toxins and VOCs in everyday products consumers purchase and use. The spirit of Earth Day is education. It began 40 years as a teach-in. It is a day to pause and reflect. But it is also a day to expand our knowledge, and expand the knowledge and awareness of those around us with regard to environmental issues.
On this Earth Day, we must remember that every day is Earth Day. April 22nd is a date on the calendar for observance, reflection and sharing. Earth Day is 365 days a year.
At EnviroCitizen, we hope you will arrange your day around some symbolic event or activity in observance of Earth Day. It is our individual and collective responsibility to leave our planet a better place for each successive generation. As we continue to educate ourselves and raise awareness of ways to do this, we inch closer to this goal.
Happy Earth Day to all.
