Profiting From Clean Energy
Investing in clean energy technology can be intimidating and seemingly risky with so many new companies competing with new technologies. But if you read Richard Asplund’s book, “Profiting from Clean Energy” you can become an instant expert and enter the market of clean energy like a pro.
Asplund has more than 25 years of experience. He founded his own investment research firm in the early 1980s and is a professional equity analyst and an advisor specializing in clean energy stocks. He knows what he’s talking about, and he’s been quoted in just about every reputable news source.
“Profiting from Clean Energy” is surprisingly enjoyable and easy to read. Unlike many investing books, which run numbers and assess risk in quantifiable (yet confusing) terms, Asplund’s work reads like a book that someone might actually read by choice.
Asplund explains clean technology and defines it as different from sustainable or alternative energy in that it encompasses a broader horizon. He also explains the industry structure behind the fields of clean energy. Asplund tells readers exactly what it takes to “effectively invest in clean energy – whether it be through buying individual stocks, investing in green exchange-traded funds or mutual funds, or trading the biofuel and carbon credit markets.”
When you read this book, you’re not just going to get a checklist of where to invest your money. You’re going to be schooled in everything that encompasses the clean energy realm, from learning about the negatives of fossil fuels, to becoming an expert in the political incentives offered for clean energy and the global goals of a future run on clean energy.
Asplund also clearly defines all of the different types of clean energy. Before reading this book, one might think that clean energy is divided into a small group of different types, like solar, wind, geothermal, and nuclear. But Asplund goes far beyond those over-generalizing categories. He explains every type of clean energy, from solar thermal power and solar photovoltaic power to offshore wind turbines. He talks about fuel cells, geothermal technologies, and even methane gas extraction. Unlike many experts, who tend to overlook automobile clean energy technology, Asplund also offers a wealth of information on where clean car technologies are coming from, and where they’re going.
Then, of course, after enabling his readers to become experts in clean energy, Asplund tells you where to put your money. With his experience, expertise, and knowledge, his advice is definitely worthwhile.
