Green Cosmetic Care Papers
Women love to look their best, but removing makeup can be a chore at times. Cosmetic papers and wipes are often used to do this conveniently since not all makeup comes off with soap and water as well. Many women are becoming hesitant to use them, however, because of the harmful effects that they can have on the environment.
Biodegradable wipes are one alternative to consider. L'Oreal offers Derma Genesis Anti-Ageing Cleansing Cloths. These wipes are biodegradable. They are made to not only cleanse the skin, but also have an anti-ageing blend as well. Josie Maran cosmetics have wipes that are not only eco-friendly and biodegradable, but also very travel friendly. Maran's Bear Naked wipes also give some of the proceeds from sales to helping the endangered polar bears; a worthy cause. Faith in Nature also has a great pack of wipes offered that are biodegradable, paraben-free, hypoallergenic as well as use natural cleansers. Bamboo wipes are also gaining in popularity.
If you are looking for wipes without a certain brand in mind, here are a few pointers to keep in the forefront of your mind while shopping. When you are looking for dispoable wipes, avoid products which contain ingredients derived from petroleum. Mineral oil can block pores on the skin, which can lead to pimples and other skin problems. Paraffin and petroleum products also block the skin, clogging pores. They also can prevent good things from getting absorbed such as vitamins. Suitable alternatives are products including cocoa butter and vegetable oils which coat, but don't block skin. They also offer vitamins naturally that other wipes do not.
If possible, find a convenient wipe alternative that is both eco-friendly and reusable; such as a reusable cosmetic pad. All you do is use the pads with cleanser. When done, just put them in the washing machine and they are ready to be used all over again. Washable cleansing pads are an economical and waste-saving alternative. There are varieties made with a blend of organic cotton, wool and bamboo with some paper pulp fibers to smooth them out. All of these have the added benefit of not having stray fibers get in the skin and eyes, causing irritation.
At the end of the day there seems to be a multitude of cosmetic wipe choices that are eco-friendly. EnviroCitizen.org simply cautions you to read labels carefully and go with ingredients that are as natural as possible.
