Carbon free mowers have become an interesting option for the eco-friendly consumer. If you’re interested in lowering your impact on the environment, and are willing to take the time and effort to choose the right mower for you, then you’re on the right track! Carbon free mowers are light on the pocketbook, easy to use, and good for the environment and the future.
The most popular forms of carbon free mowers are push reel mowers, corded electric mowers, cordless electric mowers and robotic mowers. Each is beneficial to the environment and simply depends on personal needs.
Push reel mowers are a positive way to go in terms of carbon free mowers. They emit absolutely no carbon as well as consume no energy, other than the energy that you emit when pushing it! Push reel mowers are not recommended for lawns larger than 7,000 square feet due to the personal time and energy required to put in. While the mower will work for this large area, the extra time commitment is usually more than most people can afford. For instance, if your yard takes forty five minutes to mow with a gas powered mower, it will take sixty to seventy minutes to mow with a push reel mower. Most individuals consider push reel mowing to be a relaxing and pleasant experience as the mowers are virtually silent and emit no gases.
Push reel mowers do not work with exceptionally tall grasses or dandelion type plants. The mowers are designed to move directly over these things and will not cut them down. Push reel mowers are inexpensive and can be found at most hardware supply stores.
Corded electric lawn mowers are another form of carbon free mowers. These mowers are good for the environment and are powered via a cord that must be plugged into a power outlet. These mowers do have a slightly higher use of energy, but still do not emit carbon. Their only limitation is that it is necessary to navigate mowing your lawn around the cord. This is no more difficult than navigating a corded vacuum around your home.
Cordless electric mowers work off of rechargeable batteries. They work equally as well as corded electric mowers, although they are slightly more expensive. The cordless electric mower requires little maintenance and can be quickly and efficiently used with little prep time.
Robotic lawn mowers have come on and off the market throughout the years. The robotic mower works with the use of sensors which direct them throughout the lawn, allowing them to maneuver around trees and other items. They may require overseeing while mowing as they may miss the occasional spot.
All four of these mowers are easy on the environment, emitting no carbon gasses. This is an amazing way to offset carbon footprints as well as to keep the environment clean for you as well as for future generations.
